Mr Robot season 2 premiere date: Showrunner shares production update and calls new episodes 'darker'
Filming is reportedly underway for season 2 of USA Network's hit 2015 show Mr Robot. Fans can't wait to see how the storyline unfolds in the new season that is expected to premiere in the first half of 2016.
According to Variety, Mr Robot creator/showrunner Sam Esmail plans to direct all 10 episodes of the show's second season himself. Esmail has revealed that the next season will be darker than the first one. It's no surprise that Christian Slater is confirmed to return as Mr Robot/ Edward Alderson, Elliot's long deceased father. Esmail also revealed that fans will be seeing more of BD Wong in season 2 of Mr Robot. "[BD Wong] is amazing in the first season," Esmail told Vulture. "I'd be a fool not to bring him back." Apart from that, Esmail kept season 2 spoilers close to his vest, but teased, "We have the writers in the room tonight."
In an earlier interview, Sam Esmail teased his season 2 plans by saying, "We're about to watch Rome burn. That's the world Elliot's going to enter next season."
The hit cyberpunk series achieved tremendous critical and commercial acclaim during its season 1 run making its next season one of the most eagerly-awaited TV events of 2016. Mr Robot season 2 is rumoured to premiere in June/ July of 2016.
