MTV Movie Awards 2016: From Charlize Theron to Cara Delevingne, the best dressed on the red carpet

At 25, the MTV Movie Awards is one of the younger shows that carries forward a youthful persona. This year's ceremony, which was held on 9 April, witnessed red carpet appearances by Hollywood's young and restless, but while last year's looks offered a generous doze of pinks and reds, this year, the ladies' colour for the evening was black and the theme, neo-gothic... with some exceptions of course.
On the opposite side, the men opted to skip black for some more colour (was the red carpet a co-ordinated effort?) with a mix of reds and blues.
Here's a list of some of the evening's best dressed:
Cara Delevingne
Wearing a black velvet and sheer top and fitted black trousers by Balmain, Cara Delevingne was one of the stunners of the night.
Charlize Theron

Winner for best female performance, Charlize Theron played around with sheer as well, this time accentuated by lace, in this Alexander McQueen dress which showed off a lot of back.
Gigi Hadid

We're not sure if the grey pinstriped suit works for an awards show, but somehow Gigi Hadid managed to spruce it up with a bright yellow shirt that she left unbuttoned to show a hint of lace bralette.
Nargis Fakhri

Even if you fail to remember her playing a baddie in Spy, Nargis Fakhri made the cameras take notice in this black and white two piece ensemble. She paired a black backless top with a patchwork white skirt. The actress accentuated the look by wearing her hair in a tight bun.
Neil Brown Jr

The Straight Outta Compton actor paired a double breasted blue plaid jacket with a patterned tie and black trousers.
Holland Roden

Eye catching in cobalt blue, Teen Wolf actress Holland Roden wore an off the shoulder top and matching trousers.
Ed Skrein

Deadpool villain Ed Skrein dared to wear a purple three piece suit... and it worked.
Brittany Snow

We love the caped sleeves of Brittany Snow's red mini dress which she paired with matching heels.
