MTV's Scream series premiere: Show kicks off with a gruesome murder; watch Bella Thorne in opening scene
MTV's Scream series' premiere is just round the corner and the channel has released the first eight minutes of the premiere episode.
Actress Bella Thorne, who has a cameo in the pilot, debuted the footage during a visit to NBC's Late Night With Seth Meyers. The riveting footage - that seems to pay homage to Drew Barrymore's iconic murder scene in the first Scream movie that released in 1997 - has managed to generate tremendous buzz around the show's premiere. The series kicks off when entitled Lakewood High teen Nina is murdered in an apparent crime of passion. A young loner, Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus), is outed via cyberbullying and gets by with the help of nerdy friend Noah (John Karna) and a renewed relationship with Emma (Willa Fitzgerald), her former best friend from elementary school.
Meanwhile, Emma's mother and the town's medical examiner, Maggie (Tracy Middendorf), work with Sheriff Clark (Jason Wiles) to solve the murder. Together, they must uncover if it is related to a killing spree committed by the previous generation's "bully victim," Brandon James.
Scream TV series premieres on 30 June at 10pm ET/PT on MTV.
