The Muppets premiere: Kermit and Miss Piggy's 'relationship' could be explored in the new ABC series
ABC is all set to premiere The Muppets on 22 September 2015 on ABC Family, featuring the Muppet characters in a "mockumentary"-style series and would explore the personal lives and relationships of the furry friends.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the recent pilot presentation received a standing ovation when it was screened for ABC executives.
Moreover, ABC has said that fans will be introduced to the Muppets at the San Diego Comic-Con 2015 to be held later this month.
The Muppets panel will be hosted by Damian Holbrook, which takes place from 3pm to 4pm on 11 July in Room 6A. The performers behind The Muppets will be on hand, in addition to executive producers Bill Prady, Bob Kushell, Randall Einhorn and Bill Barretta.
The official synopsis of the series reads as follows:
The Muppets return to primetime with a contemporary, documentary-style show. For the first time ever, a series will explore the Muppets' personal lives and relationships, both at home and at work, as well as romances, breakups, achievements, disappointments, wants and desires. This is a more adult Muppet show, for "kids" of all ages.
Muppet fans are of the view that Kermit and Miss Piggy's on-and-off romance could be explored in the upcoming series.
