Overview
Nadal has been in impressive form in the last two weeks in China and a victory over the World No 5 will put the Spaniard in his second final in two weeks. The World No 1 lost to Novak Djokovic in the China Open Men's Final, which was scheduled earlier in the month.
The 27-year-old Spaniard beat Stanislas Wawrinka in straight sets 7-6, 6-1 to book his semi-final berth, while Del Potro defeated Spain's Nicolas Almagro 6-3, 6-3.
The victor on Saturday will face the winner of the second semi-final clash between Djokovic and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, scheduled for later in the day.
Head-to-Head
Nadal leads head-to-head against Del Potro 9-3. The two have met in three Grand Slam fixtures and the Spaniard has won two, to Del Potro's one. Nadal also holds a 5-1 lead in the six previous meetings between the pair.
