Nailed it: Rihanna accused of Photoshopping stunning Crop Over bikini photo on Instagram

All eyes were on Rihanna's indelible Crop Over bikini costume in her latest Instagram photo. So it comes as no surprise that many are only just noticing something a little off about the snap, prompting some to accuse the Wild Thoughts singer of Photoshopping the image.

Before heading to the annual carnival in her home country of Barbados on 7 August, Rihanna, 29, sent her Instagram followers wild with the striking snap, which shows her wearing a colourful sequinned bikini flaunting her new curves, with a turquoise wig and large feathered wings. However, some eagle-eyed fans have spotted that Rihanna's right thumb appears to have another finger or nail sporting the same blue manicure as the rest of her hand.

Could it be a misplaced sequin or proof of a dodgy Photoshop job? Many of RiRi's followers believe it to be the latter, with one questioning: "Anybody else notice Rihanna's growing a nail outta her thumb? Just me?"

Another noticed the apparent Photoshop trickery and added: "What going on with rihanna's thumb nail here?"

One other stated: "And what happened to your nail ?! It looks like you have two nails in one finger."

Rihanna is yet to address the Photoshop speculation. Perhaps she is too busy reading over the compliments that have flooded the comments section beside the photo. Fans have heaped praise on the pop star for proudly flaunting her figure after months of being fat-shamed for sporting a curvier physique.

One supportive fan enthused: "Rihanna looks GREAT! Healthy, firm, no love handles/gut, skin GLOWING, confident in herself & at peace."

Another chimed in: "This woman embodies everything I strive to be an more. Beautifully confident in life and always grasping greatness."

Celebrities such as Chance The Rapper and Pharrell Williams have also openly fawned over the Kadooment Day photo on social media. However, Rihanna's ex-boyfriend Chris Brown has angered many by also weighing in, posted the eyes emoji in the comments section. Fans are outraged by Brown's show of admiration in light of his physical attack on Rihanna in 2009.

An anti-Brown commentator said: "Damn. Chris Brown really messed up . Rihanna ain't paying no attention to Him., and telling by all the publicity Chris is getting from his comment, I'm sure he's regretting commenting in the first place, but due to the fact that what he did to her is not forgotten. I lost respect for him. He should know better."

However, others supported the R&B singer and suggested he should be forgiven for his actions which took place eight years ago. A fan wrote in his defence: "I don't understand why ppl are hating on one comment. He messed up and regrets but she ain't tripping about it why should you... chris brown ain't a bad person he just made poor choices in his past and that's the past so y'all need to stop saying he gots to go bc he got a right to be treated as a human 2 wrongs don't make a right!!!"

Rihanna's eye-popping costume was designed by local designer Lauren Austin, who spent just a day making the singer's desired outfit. Austin told Vogue of her stunning creation: "When I first saw which look she chose, I thought wow, everyone will be shocked – the neon, the iridescent crystals, it's totally different from what she's done before...

"Over the years however, designers started getting creative. Today it's very important to dress up in full costume to really and truly feel the Crop Over vibe. It's exhilarating, free, and radiant."
