Naomi Watts Brings Diana, Princess of Wales, to Life for New Film
When Naomi Watts stepped out on the sets of the upcoming Oliver Hirschbiegel-directed film, Caught in Flight, as late Princess Diana, she bore an uncanny resemblance to the royal beauty.
Watts looked elegant as she prepared for a scene as Princess Diana attending a red carpet event (shot in Croatia) in a long glittering silver gown, her trademark coiffed blonde hair and the enchanting smile which captured millions of hearts around the world. The look was completed with black shoes and matching clutch bag with a diamond strings round her neck. In an earlier shoot, the English actress was seen dressed in all black as she was seen leaving a building.
The film based on the Princess will focus on the last two years her life. The biopic will include the Princess' relationship with Dr. Hasnat Khan of two years before splitting in 1997 and her time with billionaire Dodi Al-Fayed, who died with her in the Paris car crash in 1997. It will also show People's Princess humanitarian work carried out in central Europe
The 43 year old actress had previously said that she did not feel any resemblance to Diana, but could not deny the role when approached by the film's director.
"She is a part of our history, an incredible woman and fascinating but a tragic ending," said the Oscar nominee actress was quoted as saying to the Press Association. "The filmmakers came to me and it's a good script and it's very scary and I kind of wanted to say 'no' but I couldn't."
Naomi feels honored to be able to portray the historic role.
"It is such an honor to be able to play this iconic role," Watts said in a statement in February reported E online. "Princess Diana was loved across the world and I look forward to rising to the challenge of playing her on screen."
The life of Princess of Wales always has been a hot topic even after years and continues to capture the media's attention.
The film on the late princess is expected to hit theaters next year.
