Naomi Watts Dons Diana's Famous Black Evening Gown Ensemble in a Scene for Princess of Wales' Biopic [PHOTOS]
British actress Naomi Watts is presently in Croatia, shooting for a biopic on the last two years of the life of the Diana, Princess of Wales and, by all accounts, her striking resemblance to the late mother of Prince William only draws more admirers. In this particular scene, Watts was seen wearing that famous black evening gown ensemble of the Princess of Wales.
The actress, who made her mark in Australian television shows, initially said she neither resembled Princess Diana nor felt anything like her. However, she must surely have changed her mind after reports raving about the similarities started appearing everywhere. Watts wore the black dress with a plunging neckline - the same one the princess wore to a black tie event - to film , which the princess wore to a black tie event, to film a dinner scene in Croatia. Watts even wore the same-styled choker worn by Diana. In an earlier IBTimes UK report, Watts was reported as being spotted in a long silver gown, with Diana's trademark coiffed blonde hair.
The photographs were released on Wednesday by Ecosse Films, the London-based production company producing the film. The production was earlier titled Caught in Flight but has now been renamed Diana. It is being directed by German Oliver Hirschbiegel and reportedly will portray the final two years of the Princess of Wales' life. It should be released sometime next year and will supposedly include details of Diana's relationship with heart surgeon Dr Hasnat Khan; they were believed to be in an affair between 1995 and her death in 1997.
"When Princess Diana flew to Pakistan in May 1997, she went to meet the family of Dr. Hasnat Khan, the man she wanted to marry. One of the most famous and beautiful women in the world, she hoped to persuade Dr. Khan's mother that she would make a suitable wife for her son. Had she succeeded, the events of that summer might have been very different... A love story about family, friendship and the calamity of fame," a synopsis about the film reads on its official Web site.
Watts, who will star alongside British actor Naveen Andrews in his role as Dr Khan, earlier reportedly refused to play the role of Princess Diana. She later admitted she felt honoured to be considered.
