NCIS season 13: Plot description for Tony DiNozzo's final episode teases an international manhunt
CBS has officially released the title and synopsis for NCIS season 13 finale episode, which will feature the exit storyline for Michael Weatherly's character Tony DiNozzo. The final episode aka episode 24 is titled, Family First, which will air on 17 May at 8pm EST on CBS Network.
The network has released the official synopsis for the epic hour which reads as follows:
British actor Duane Henry will play an MI6 agent, while actress Sarah Clarke will star as an FBI agent. And the synopsis suggests that Tony would spend his last day in NCIS chasing a British spy.
As previously reported, Weatherly is leaving the CBS drama and his last appearance as Tony DiNozzo will be aired on 17 May. NCIS showrunner Gary Glasberg had previously stated that no one can replace Weatherly.
Glasberg told Parade.com, "I can't replace Michael Weatherly. I'll just come right out and say that, and I've said it multiple times. He is not replaceable, but what we can do is find someone new, someone different, a new chapter for the show, and move forward and just find something quirky and new and different that works for all of us."
Speaking about Tony's exit storyline, the showrunner shared, "We're 100 percent conscious of wanting to deliver everything that fans want from this storyline, and everything that we can in terms of Tony's exit and what that means to everybody."
In the previous episode, Tony had thought long about his future, after two fake agents tried to steal his identity, which hinted at a possible exit storyline for the NCIS agent. The phony DiNozzo pointed out to Tony, "You have no life. No wife, no kids, no hobbies, same job, same apartment... Nothing changes with you."
Maybe, DiNozzo would take up a new job and reunite with Ziva (who is currently in Israel) to make his life more meaningful! The finale episode is ambiguously titled, Family First. Fans of the series want Ziva David's (Cote de Pablo) to return for the finale episode, there is no confirmation as yet on whether Pablo would return on the show.
The series returns from a three-week hiatus and will air the next episode on 19 April at 8pm EST on CBS.
