New York Fashion Week: Sienna Miller praises 'phenomenal' Ralph Lauren cashmere and tweed show
Continuing with tradition, designer Ralph Lauren helped usher in the close of New York Fashion Week: The Shows on 18 February. The autumn/winter 2016 collection of 46 looks started with taupe cashmere coats and jackets with tweed culottes to elegant black, blue and amethyst velvet evening gowns.
"Ralph's show was phenomenal, as I imagined it would be," American Sniper actress Sienna Miller said. "I loved the different chapters that kind of has something for everyone. It's such classic luxury, it's tailoring, it's beautiful, timeless. The tweeds were stunning.
"I thought the tweed culottes with the styling of the belts... I used to save up and collect the double RL belts when I was younger so I've always been really drawn to the leather and all of that stuff. There was a black velvet jumpsuit that I was completely obsessed with and a red dress with a V in it. The colours and the fabrics are just exquisite."
Miller sat next to American Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour during the show. "The versatility of that collection was astounding," Miller said. "It did feel completely cinematic, three different kind of films within one show. But some of the fabrics are things I've never seen before, that last look, the shiny, I mean it was just stunning the way it moved."
A gold liquid Mikado evening dress wowed the audience. "The first word that springs to mind when I think of Ralph Lauren is just timeless elegance," Miller said. "It's exquisite. It's beautiful. If I need a beautiful cashmere coat, that's where I would go. The wools and the tweeds but also their evening wear is breathtaking and I wore a dress of theirs in Cannes, a kind of metallic, silver beaded dress, it was one of my favourite things I've ever worn, so I am a huge Ralph Lauren fan."
New York Fashion Week ended on 18 February after seven days of shows.
