A man from New York has been arrested after he allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl he met on Snapchat.
Javier Morales, 28, from Brooklyn had a conversation with the teenager from Elmont, Long Island on the image messaging app, police said. Earlier this year, he arranged to meet with her on multiple occasions, when they engaged in sexual intercourse.
The girl eventually told her mother about her involvement with Morales. Her mother then alerted police.
At a news conference on Friday (15 December) Nassau County police confirmed his arrest.
"Defendant Morales is a prime example of a sexual predator," Det. Lt. Richard LeBrun told ABC7News .
"Any parents, any children should take a look at this photo. If there's any type of interaction, inappropriate interaction that you feel your child has come in contact with this individual, we urge to call the Nassau County Police Department."
Morales was arrested on charges of rape, sex abuse, resisting arrest and obstructing for a case in New York City.
