Newcastle United Winger Jonas Gutierrez Given All-Clear Following Cancer Treatment
Newcastle United's Jonas Gutierrez has been given the all-clear following treatment for testicular cancer.
In September, the 31-year-old winger returned to his native Argentina to undergo an operation to have his left testicle removed before receiving chemotherapy.
Gutierrez has since announced via his Twitter account he has left hospital, tweeting: " Today I was given a medical discharge. Thank you very much to all who accompanied me at this time. Especially my family, my parents, brothers godmother and friends."
Newcastle also took to Twitter to share their player's news, tweeting: "Everyone at #NUFC is delighted to share the news that @elgalgojonas has been discharged from hospital in Argentina."
Gutierrez has made over 170 appearances for Newcastle since arriving from Mallorca in 2008.
The wideman struggled to hold down a first-team role at St James' Park last season, prompting manager Alan Pardew to allow the player to join Norwich City on loan for the second half of the campaign, where he made his last league appearance in April.
