Newlywed bride pulls gun from wedding dress and 'shoots' groom in the head
An argument broke out just hours after the couple said 'I do'.
For some, the honeymoon period is really, really short. Kate Elizabeth Prichard, 25, had just married James Jarid Burton, 30, in Tennessee, but the night did not end happily for either of them.
Only a couple of hours after saying 'I do' the pair was spotted arguing by the Clarion Inn, in Murfreesboro.
The dispute prompted Prichard to reach for a 9mm pistol hidden beneath her wedding dress and point it at Burton's head. She pulled the trigger.
Thankfully, the gun was not loaded and Burton was unharmed.
Prichard then allegedly loaded the weapon and shot into the air, prompting everyone to run for their lives and flee the scene. She then disposed of the weapon in the Inn's bathroom.
When the police arrived, they found that both Prichard and Burton "were being very uncooperative," Sgt. Kyle Evans told News Channel 5. The couple denied that anything was wrong.
But a witness described both of them as intoxicated and said they had spent several hours arguing. A search discovered a spent bullet casing and the weapon used for the crime.
"Responding officers let the husband know the honeymoon was over and his new wife was going to jail," said Evans. Prichard was arrested while still wearing her wedding dress.
She was charged with aggravated domestic abuse and remanded in the Rutherford county jail. She was then released on a $15,000 bond.
It is unknown whether the couple will want to work things out.
