She was initially inundated with death threats after being unveiled as Niall Horan's new love interest, but it looks like One Direction fans are finally starting to come round to the idea of him dating Melissa Whitelaw.

The 21-year-old heartthrob has been romantically linked to the Australian model since February when she was seen in Sydney leaving a flight right behind the Irish heartthrob during One Direction's On The Road Again Tour.

She was later bombarded with vile messages from obsessed Directioners on social media after the couple were seen kissing in a casino in Melbourne.

Furious fans went online to warn the brunette beauty to stay away from the Steal My Girl hitmaker, with one even threatening to "f**k her up".

"I haven't done anything to any of you so please stop sending me mean comments," she pleaded at the time. "For all you asking, yeah Niall and I dating. Niall has not posted about us because we have decided we will wait until it's the right time."

Despite the backlash Horan seemingly went public with their relationship at Great Gatsby Ball in London, an event organised to support cancer charity, Trekstock. Although he arrived on his own he left the bash with Whitelaw, who looked stunning in a black floor-length gown.

And it look like their outing just might have done the trick because the law student is no longer one of the most hated women on the planet.
