Nigerian pastor arrested for allegedly raping fellow cleric's daughters
Police acted after the victim's father filed a complaint against Pastor Cletus Metititri.
A 29-year-old pastor in Nigeria has been arrested for allegedly raping two underage daughters of his fellow cleric, police said on Tuesday (15 August).
Zanna Ibrahim, commissioner of police in Delta State, told local media that the accused was identified as Cletus Metititri, a pastor with a new generational church.
According to reports, the pastor was arrested after the victims' brother alerted their father. Ibrahim added that the arrest was made in Obiaruku in Ukwuani Local Government Area of the state.
Medical examinations showed the girls, aged 11 and 13, were sexually abused, local newspaper Punch reported.
"On Sunday, the 6th of August 2017, at about 9.10pm, one Pastor Olomu Friday, 45 years old of Back of Filling Station, Obiaruku reported that his two daughters were sexually assaulted by the suspect (Pastor Cletus)," Ibrahim said in a statement.
"He [the victim's father] stated that he was informed by his son, Olomu Chris, 22 years, that he saw the said Pastor Cletus and the two girls coming out from an empty flat in their compound in a suspicious manner.
"The suspect was arrested and the doctors' report has indicated that the victims were sexually assaulted. Further investigation into the case is ongoing," he added.
