Northampton Saints' Tom Wood set to end his England exile against South Africa at Twickenham
An injury-hit England side face the Springboks on Saturday.
Tom Wood has been named in England's 25-man squad for Saturday's Test against South Africa at Twickenham. The 30-year-old Northampton Saints star will reportedly make his first England appearance in over a year against the Springboks, starting the game at open-side flanker.
Wood is poised to be joined in the back row by Chris Robshaw and Billy Vunipola, while Jonny May will also appear for the first time under coach Eddie Jones, according to the BBC. May, 26, will start on one wing and Marland Yarde on the other for Jones' injury-hit England side.
Elsewhere, Courtney Lawes has been passed fit for the match at English rugby's headquarters and he will feature alongside Joe Launchbury in the second row.
Jones will officially name his England side to face South Africa on Thursday (10 November) for the first of four games in the Old Mutual Wealth series. After the South Africa match, England play against against Fiji, Argentina and Australia on consecutive weekends.
England are unbeaten under Jones, having won their last nine Test matches in a row. But they have not beaten South Africa since 2006 and their lengthy list of injury absentees is sure to prove troublesome in the weeks ahead.
