Overview
Djokovic advanced to the last four of the competition after defeating Kei Nishikori in the quarter finals on Friday. It was another three set match as the 27-year-old won the first set, before losing the second to the Japanese tennis star.
The Serbian finished the third and the final set comfortably, winning the match 6-3, 3-6, 6-1. He is the reigning champion of the Rome Masters and Djokovic will be hoping he can make it to the finals on Sunday in order to defend his title.
Meanwhile, Ferrer dropped a set for the first time in the ongoing competition. Even he won the first set 6-2 against David Goffin, before losing the second set to the 24-year-old Belgian. However, a 6-3 win in the final set helped him seal the match and confirm his semi final berth.
With Ferrer failing to defeat Djokovic in the last five meetings, the World No 1 is tipped to be the favourite to win the first semi final clash on Saturday.
