Where to watch live
The match starts at 7.30pm BST. Live coverage of the game will be available in the UK on British Eurosport 1 & 2. Live scores and regular updates will be available on US Open's official website.
Overview
World number one Novak Djokovic has not had a good couple of weeks, having a disappointing outing in the Rio 2016 Olympics, where he lost in the first round to Juan Martin del Potro. However, he showed just why he is the best player in the world at the ongoing US Open 2016, putting that behind him to beat Jerzy Janowicz 6-3, 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 in the first round.
It is obvious that the Serb is still struggling from a wrist injury, which might hurt him in the long run and with Andy Murray looking in brilliant form, Djokovic will need to raise his game to an extra level in order to make sure that he wins his third US Open title.
His opponent, Jiri Vesely, who hit a career high ranking of 35 last season is a powerful albeit inconsistent player on the ATP Tennis circuit. The big Czech who shocked Novak Djokovic in the first round of the Monte Carlo Masters is not to be taken lightly considering he is capable of destroying the opposition on his day.
The 23-year-old for all his power and intensity is yet to harness that into a complete package and is unlikely to cause an upset against the top ranked Novak Djokovic come 31 August.
