Overview
World No 1 Djokovic got off to a fine start at the Madrid Open with a straight sets win over 19-year-old Boma Coric. The Serbian started the current season like he finished the last won with four titles in six events thus far. Djokovic's clay court season, however, did not get the best start after he suffered a shock loss to Jiri Vesely in the round of 32 at the Monte Carlo Masters. He will be keen to put that behind and begin his preparation for the French Open in earnest – the only Grand Slam evading him thus far.
Bautista Agut, meanwhile, has had a successful start to the season winning the ATP 250 series, while also making the round of 16 at the Australian Open and the Master Series tournaments in Miami and Monte Carlo. He could provide the World No 1 with a sterner test than the less experienced Coric.
