Old Street hit-and-run: 21-year-old man killed after car slams into two pedestrians
A 21-year-old man has been killed after a hit-and-run in east London in which a car slammed into two pedestrians. The incident, next to the Old Street roundabout, happened in at 4.25am on Tuesday (29 March).
The second pedestrian, in his 20s, has been taken to hospital and is said to be in a stable condition. Police say the car involved in the crash failed to stop at the scene.
Old Street, heading eastbound from the roundabout at the junction with Vince Street, is currently closed with diversions in place. Investigators were seen this morning at the scene with two tents erected on both sides of the road.
A Met Police spokesman said: "Police were called to Old Street, EC1, today, Tuesday, 29 March at 04.25hrs to reports of a road traffic collision between a car and two pedestrians. The car failed to stop at the scene. London Ambulance Service was also called.
"A 21-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin are aware. Another man in his 20s was taken to an east London hospital by LAS. He is in a stable condition. Enquiries continue. No arrests."
