One Direction: Liam Payne and girlfriend Sophia Smith not engaged despite 'wedding planner visit'

There was speculation of a One Direction wedding but reports that Liam Payne and his girlfriend Sophia Smith were engaged and getting married have been denied.

Heat magazine claims to have spotted 21-year-old Payne arriving at the home of wedding planner-to-the-stars Mindy Weiss in the Cheviot Hills area of Los Angeles.

According to the celebrity publication, the 1D star was seen getting picked up at his hotel in a black Cadillac Escalade and taken to see Weiss, who has created the weddings of Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia Rossi and Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale to name a few.

The visit was said to have taken place during a recent evening at around 6pm and his security team were reportedly seen waiting outside the property.

However, there will be no wedding bells for the happy couple as a rep for the boy band has denied the visit ever took place.

The spokesperson told The Mirror: "This is a completely fabricated story by Heat Magazine. Liam has not met with any wedding planners."

They may not be getting married but Payne and Smith, who know each other from school and began dating two years ago, are clearly still loved-up as the Night Changes singer recently hinted that they have moved in together.

The boy band singer tweeted:

Fans first speculated that the couple would be moving in together when reports emerged in January that the What Makes You Beautiful singer had bought a new house in Surrey for £5.1m ($7.9m).

In March, Payne admitted he was pining after his girlfriend via social media in the fallout from former bandmate Zayn Malik quitting the group. The pop star shared a photo of Smith on Twitter with the caption:
