OnePlus confirms Snapdragon 810 will power OnePlus 2, more specs to be revealed soon
OnePlus has finally announced on its official forums that its next flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 2, will be powered by the popular Snapdragon 810 processor chipset, while the rest of the hardware specifications will be revealed later on an instalment basis.
OnePlus also states in its official announcement that the ensuing overheating issues with the Snapdragon 810 will be addressed with the new 2.1 revision of the processor chipset, which is optimised for the upcoming phone.
This comes as a big relief for OnePlus users, especially given the fact that several devices such as HTC One M9, LG G Flex 2 and Xperia Z4 have been afflicted with widespread overheating problems due to aggressive thermal throttling of the 810 chip.
The thermal throttling issue has been addressed by OnePlus with the use of thermal gel and graphite to dissipate and alleviate heat quickly from the Snapdragon 810 chipset, while the fully optimised OxygenOS enables Qualcomm's powerful processor to make better use of its large and small cores.
There is still no official word on the exact release date for the OnePlus 2, although we can rest assured that more specifications will emerge for the OnePlus One successor, in the near future.
