P Diddy arrest: Rap mogul released on $50,000 bail after alleged assault on UCLA football coach
P Diddy has been released from jail after being arrested for allegedly assaulting his son's UCLA football coach with a kettlebell.
The 45 year old, real name Sean Combs, posted bail of $50,000 (£31,681) on the evening of 22 June and was subsequently released from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, ESPN reports.
Although police have not named the victim, TMZ claims that the Bad Boy Records boss tried to attack his son Justin Combs' football coach Sam Alosi with the fitness weight.
UCLA Newsroom says that Diddy has been charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, one count of making terrorist threats and one count of battery.
The rapper is scheduled to appear in court on 13 July.
The incident is believed to have taken place at the campus's Acosta Athletic Training Complex after the coach reportedly criticised 21-year-old Justin, prompting Diddy to wade in.
The Last Night hitmaker is yet to address the incident publicly but a source has told TMZ that the rapper acted in "self defence".
It is thought that nobody was seriously injured in the altercation and Diddy is understood to have missed making contact with the fitness tool.
Another UCLA football coach, Jim Mora, has issued a statement on behalf of the university staff following the incident.
Mora said: "This is an unfortunate incident for all parties involved.
"While UCPD continues to review this matter, we will let the legal process run its course and refrain from further comment at this time."
Diddy's longtime rival 50 Cent has mocked the incident by filming a spoof and sharing memes on Instagram.
