Overview
A victory in the first ODI saw Pakistan extend their Test series form into the limited over format. England were looking to bounce back and they did so by winning the next two matches and have taken a 2-1 lead in the four-match series.
One thing is for sure: the Three Lions will avoid a series defeat in the ODIs. A victory in the fourth match will see them win the series and Eoin Morgan would be looking for his batsmen to do the job in the final ODI.
The third match was a low-scoring game in which the required target for England was 209. Pakistan won the toss and Azhar Ali elected to bat first. None of the Pakistan batsmen posted a big score and with wickets falling at regular intervals, they were lucky enough to score above 200.
In reply, England lost Jason Roy and Joe Root very early in their innings. Alex Hales and Morgan tried to steady the ship, but both were dismissed after they managed over 30. It was an unbeaten partnership between James Taylor (67) and Jos Butler (49) that helped the English side seal a comfortable six-wicket victory.
