Paul Pogba's former coach backs midfielder's big-money return to Manchester United
KEY POINTS
- Frenchman left United to join Juventus in 2012.
- Pogba has been strongly linked with a £100m return.
Paul Pogba's former coach thinks the midfielder's much-discussed transfer to Manchester United would be "beautiful". The 23-year-old star is reported to be close to rejoining the Red Devils from Serie A side Juventus and Mohamed Chacha, who brought the Frenchman to Le Havre as a child, has welcomed the rumoured move.
Pogba originally left Old Trafford for Juventus in 2012 and has subsequently established himself as one of the best players in world football. However, according to Chacha, a return to United would be a good career move for the France international.
"Returning to United will be a beautiful thing for Paul," he told Gazzetta World. "When he was there he didn't have the opportunity to break through to the first team. Now, with his return he can show his talents."
Pogba's speculated move to United is reported to be worth around £100m ($131.6m) and Chacha says the midfielder always seemed destined for the top. "What dazzled me was his calmness on the pitch and his exceptional technique," he said of Pogba, who joined United from Le Havre as a teenager.
"He took many risks with the ball and looked to create a new move every day. For someone as lanky as he was, it was an amazing thing. Paul didn't have highly developed physical attributes yet, however, he had mass and strength in his legs. Afterwards, at United he grew so much in an athletic aspect."
Pogba could soon become Jose Mourinho's fourth summer signing at United. The Premier League-winning boss has already agreed deals for Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan this summer.
