Pink denies scowling through frenemy Christina Aguilera AMAs performance - 'I am in awe'
Singer claims she was in tears during Aguilera's moving tribute to Whitney Houston.
Pink has defended herself on Twitter after fans accused her of scowling through ex-rival Christina Aguilera's performance at the American Music Awards on Sunday evening (19 November).
Cameras caught Pink, real name Alecia Moore, looking extremely unimpressed as Aguilera, 36, took to the stage to sing a heartfelt rendition of Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You in celebration of The Bodyguard's 25th anniversary.
As the cameras hovered over the audience looking for celebrity reactions, Pink appeared to scrunch up her face and grimace at Aguilera's musical tribute.
Twitter exploded with memes regarding Pink's reaction, with the singer feeling forced to deny the online accusations shortly afterwards.
She tweeted to her 31.2m followers: "Yes. THIS. Christina f**king killed it tonight for one of our favorite singers ever. This about Whitney, and I am in awe of Christina's talent. Show the clip where I'm in tears, you negative Nancy's."
Some fans were however left unconvinced, with one person replying with a still of her scowling face and the rebuke: "Stop lying."
Others came out in her defence, with another stating: "I knew pink loved xtina's performance since the beginning, but people start twisting her reaction, maybe for the "beef" they had before... Pink just kill all those rumours".
Another said: "Girl. The real fans that know and love you KNOW what this face was!!"
Pink and Aguilera's relationship began on an icy note during the initial talks for a cover of LaBelle's Lady Marmalade along with Lil' Kim and Mya for the Moulin Rouge! soundtrack.
Pink recalled the first meeting about the collaboration, where Aguilera reportedly walked in with record label executive Ron Fair.
She said in her Behind the Music segment on VH1: "Ron Fair walked in. He didn't say hi to any of us and said, 'What's the high part? What's the most singing part? Christina's going to take that part.' And I stood up, and I said 'Hi. How are you? So nice of you to introduce yourself. I'm Pink. She will not be taking that part. I think that's what the f**king meeting's about.'"
The pair have since put their differences aside and Pink recently spoke about the feud on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen in October.
Explaining how their row got physical, she said: "We were super young and super new at the whole thing, and I think I'm an alpha and she's an alpha. I'm used to taking my altercations physical and she's used to having them verbal and we just are very different.
"Actually, she swung on me in a club – which is hilarious.
"I was like, 'What's happening right now? What are you – what's happening?'" she recounted.
