Planet of the Apes sequel, Gambit and Fantastic Four 2 get 2016/2017 release dates
Superhero movies The Fantastic Four 2 and X-Men spin-off Gambit have been given official release dates in 2016 and 2017, as well as a sequel to Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
Gambit, starring Channing Tatum, will be released on 7 October 2016, while Fantastic Four 2 (a sequel to this year's forthcoming reboot) will arrive on 2 June 2017. The Apes sequel will arrive on 14 July 2017.
At the moment that Apes sequel is untitled, but the safe money is on either War of the Planet of the Apes or War for the Planet of the Apes.
Studio 20th Century Fox also dated its video game adaptation Assassin's Creed – set to star Michael Fassbender – for 21 December 2016. This all comes via The Wrap.
Tatum commented on the news in a tweet, asking how to say the release date in Cajun, alluding to the heritage of the fan-favourite mutant character he'll be playing.
The Fantastic Four sequel has been bumped up to its earlier June release, with the third part of the rebooted Apes series taking its original spot in July.
Gambit's X-Men spin-off will be preceded by Deadpool - starring Ryan Reynolds - which is set for release on 12 February 2016 and X-Men: Apocalypse on 19 May 2016.
Fox also dated comedy Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates (29 July 2016), Hugh Jackman's PT Barnum biopic The Greatest Showman on Earth (25 December 2016) and romantic drama The Mountain Between Us (10 February 2017), which is set to star Charlie Hunnam and Rosamund Pike.
