Plymouth child charged over international cyberattacks and bomb hoaxes on US airlines
A 15-year-old boy from Plymouth has been charged with offences relating to cyberattacks on websites around the world, as well as bomb hoaxes against US airlines.
The teenager, from the Plympton area of the city, was charged following an investigation by officers from the Operation Zephyr Regional Cyber Crime Unit. He is accused of three offences under Section 3 of the Computer Misuse Act which relate to denial of service attacks on websites at locations in Europe, North America, Africa and Asia
He was also charged with two offences under Section 51 of the Criminal Law Act. This relates to bomb hoaxes placed with airlines in North America via social media. The 15-year-old has been bailed to appear before Plymouth Youth Court on 18 December.
