Pokemon Victini event: How to download 'mythical' legendary Fire/Psychic-type via Mystery Gift
How to get Victini for Pokemon X and Y and Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire on Nintendo 3DS in September.
Nintendo and The Pokémon Company's celebration of the Pokémon franchise's 20th Anniversary moves into 'Gen 5' territory in September with Victini, the Victory Pokémon.
Starting from today (1 September), players with Pokémon X and Y and Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire can download the Psychic/Fire-type via Mystery Gift and the Nintendo Network.
The big-eared, event-exclusive "mythical" Pokémon has a tall order to follow, with the series' closest equivalent to a 'God' having been previously available in August as part of the ongoing celebration of the franchises' 20th Anniversary. Fortunately, unlike the Arceus giveaway, Victini can be obtained without leaving the house to grab a serial code from a nearby retail store.
For those that didn't nab the bug-eyed critter in the Liberty Garden in Pokémon Black and White (or missed the Liberty Pass giveaway), Victini can be obtained for free until 24 September, so turn on your Nintendo 3DS and follow these easy steps:
- Start any of the 6th Generation Pokémon games
- Select the Mystery Gift > Receive Gift options from the main menu
- Make sure your Nintendo 3DS is connected to Wi-Fi and choose Get Via Internet
- Once the download finishes start your game as normal
- Head to any Pokémon Center and speak with the special delivery NPC to receive Victini in-game
Your loveable new buddy will be pre-levelled to level 100 upon collection, although pro-trainers will want to save their game before collecting it, as you can then reset your game until you get a nature and IV spread that suits a competitive build. Your Victini will have the unique ability Victory Star and the moves Incinerate, Quick Attack, Endure and Confusion.
Next month the Gen 5 roster of legendary monsters continues, with the Water/Fighting-type Keldeo - a particularily rare, swashbuckling, colt-like Pokémon.
