Post mortem to be carried out on prank call nurse today
A post mortem is due to be carried out today at the Westminster Mortuary on the body of Jacintha Saldanha the nurse who committed suicide. Three days after taking a hoax prank call by two Australian journalists from 2Day FM who rang up pretending to be the Queen and Prince Charles, looking to get insider details on the Duchess of Cambridge, who was undergoing treatment at the King Edward V11 hospital where Mrs Saldhana worked.
MP Keith Vaz, has met with Bristol based Mrs Saldanha's family, her husband Benedict Barboza and her two teenage children,Lisha aged 14 and son Johal aged 16.
In response to Mrs Saldhanan's death Southern Cross Austereo, who owns 2Day FM,said the remainder of the company's profits for 2012 should go to a memorial fund to benefit Jacintha Saldhana's family.The sum is expected to amount to AUS$500,000 (£326,000).
Police in London have contacted their Australian counterparts with a view to interviewing the pair ahead of an inquest into Ms Saldanha's death. After the post mortem an inquest is likely to be opened and adjourned at Westminster Coroner's Court later this week.
