Overview
Nadal secured his semi-final berth for the sixth time in the last seven years of the Madrid Masters after brushing aside the challenge from sixth seed Tomas Berdych. The World No 1 needed 88 minutes to register a 6-4, 6-2 victory over his Czech counterpart.
The defending champion eyes his fourth title at the Spanish capital and now faces his compatriot in Bautista Agut. The 26-year-old humbled Colombian qualifier Santiago Giraldo 6-3, 6-4 in straight sets in a match that lasted 87 minutes.
Nadal will be hoping to maintain his winning streak and go unbeaten in Madrid before attempting to defend his Internazionali BNL d'Italia and Roland Garros titles.
The winner of this clash will face the winner of the other semi-final between World No 5, David Ferrer and 10th seed, Kei Nishikori in the final on Sunday.
