Raheem Sterling can be a Liverpool great, says Thierry Henry
Thierry Henry believes that Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling has all the attributes to become a future great.
The Arsenal legend, who scored 175 goals for the Gunners in the Premier League wants the starlet to improve his finishing, which will make him an indomitable force in world football.
The 20-year-old has been the best player in a Liverpool shirt this season in the absence of Daniel Sturridge, scoring nine goals in all competitions along with six assists. Brendan Rodgers has deployed him in numerous roles, on the left wing and as the lone striker, where he had used his pace to move beyond defences.
However, his finishing has not been of the highest quality, as demonstrated against Chelsea over both legs of the Capital One semi-final, where he had multiple chances to score, but failed to get his feet in line, in front of the goal.
"One vs one it's very difficult to defend against him," the Frenchman told Sky Sports.
"The only thing I can say that he doesn't have yet is finishing. He struggles with it sometimes but that will come with time. He has everything you need. He's good one vs one and he has pace. His movements are sharp," he added.
Rodgers will therefore be pleased by the return to action of Sturridge, who missed a major part of the season due to injury.
The northern Irishman does not trust Mario Balotelli to lead the line and recently stated that the Italian does not have the attributes to fit into the team and started from the bench against Chelsea in the second leg of the Capital One Cup semi-final.
Sturridge carved a brilliant relationship with Luis Suarez last season, scoring and creating more than 20 goals, something which Rodgers' side have sorely missed this season. The lack of goals reflects poorly on the points table, where they currently sit on seventh place, five points adrift of a top four spot.
