Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo 'met with PSG chairman' amid Zlatan Ibrahimovic replacement rumours
Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly made a trip to France last week, 13 April, to meet with Paris Saint Germain chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi in order discuss a potential future move to the Ligue 1 side, according to France Football. The French publication suggests that Laurent Blanc's side have earmarked the former Manchester United star as the main target for the replacement of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is out of contract at the end of the current campaign and expected to leave the club.
Ronaldo was heavily linked with a move to the Ligue 1 side earlier in the season, after it emerged that he had fallen out of favour with then manager Rafael Benitez, as the current Newcastle boss wanted to build his side around midfield player Gareth Bale.
The Portuguese international failed to quash those speculations during a Champions League group stage encounter between Real Madrid and PSG, being caught on camera speaking to Laurent Blanc – allegedly telling the French boss of his desires to play under him at PSG.
Those speculations had seemingly cooled down in recent months after Zinedine Zidane took over Benitez at the Santiago Bernabeu. The 31-year-old star, nevertheless, has since recovered his leading role in Los Blancos, having scored 47 goals in 43 appearances this season, including a superb hat-trick against Wolfsburg last week that helped send his side to the Champions League semi-final stages.
But France Football has now reopened the debate over his future after reporting that the star is once again flirting with the Ligue 1 millionaires. The French publication claims that, just one day after that 3-0 victory over Wolfsburg on 12 April, Ronaldo used his day off from training to make a quick stopover in Paris and meet with Nasser Al-Khelaifi. The star striker has already met with him at least four times in recent months, say France Football.
The magazine's report details that the former Manchester United star took a flight in the airport of Torrejon – a private airport near Madrid - earlier on Wednesday 13 April and landed in Bourget airport alongside his close friend Anass Oufizi. There, according to the French publication, the star was picked by a driver sent by Al-Khelaifi, before meeting with the PSG chairman himself at the Hotel Costes.
