Real Madrid will look to seal progress to the Champions League quarter-final stage when they take on Roma at the Santiago Bernabeu on 8 March.

Where to watch live

Kick-off is set for 7.45pm GMT. The game will be broadcast live on BT Sport Europe.

Overview

Real Madrid are huge favourites to make a sixth successive Champions League quarter-final appearance after beating Roma 2-0 in the round of 16 first leg in Italy. The Spanish giants are in excellent goal scoring form, with Cristiano Ronaldo netting four in a 7-1 demolition of Celta Vigo at the Santiago Bernabeu on 5 March.

Playmakers Luka Modric (foot) and Toni Kroos (illness) are both set to return for the hosts after missing the Celta match. Karim Benzema remains sidelined with a hamstring injury, but Gareth Bale is in line to make his first start in two months.

Roma warmed up for their trip to the Spanish capital by beating Fiorentina 4-1 at home, with Mohamed Salah netting a brace. The Serie A side have not won away from home in the Champions League since November 2010.

Defensive duo Daniele De Rossi (calf) and Antonio Rudiger (thigh) are both sidelined through injury for the visitors.

What managers say

Zinedine Zidane: "It's important to have scored ahead of the Champions League. Bale looked good, he was happy to play after so long. We'll see tomorrow and Monday for the match against Roma but I think he's ready. We talked at halftime... we came out very strong in the second half [against Celta Vigo], more tuned in and then when you score goals it all gets easier."

Luciano Spalletti: "[Francesco] Totti is the history of Roma, the best Italian player in the post-war era. I learned so much from him. His moves have always been taken as an example to show young players. He has given so much to football and it's only right that this is recognised. I hope he closes his career in the best way, listening to what his heart tells him. Undoubtedly, my role becomes difficult in this situation, but I have absolute respect for the man and his career."
