Real Madrid 2-0 Roma - Wolfsburg 1-0 Gent: Uefa Champions League last 16 - as it happened
Full-time: Real Madrid 2-0 Roma, Wolfsburg 1-0 Gent
- Ronaldo gives Real the lead with his 90th Champions League goal.
- James adds a second within minutes to settle the tie.
- Andre Schurrle goal secures Wolfsburg's place in the quarter finals.

Prior to the match, there was plenty of speculation surrounding the future of Cristiano Ronaldo, who has been linked with a summer-time switch away from Los Blancos.
But he has been a constant thorn in the side of Roma this evening, proving once again that he remains a force to be reckoned with despite recent criticism.
61 - Cristiano Ronaldo has now scored in 61 different Champions League matches; more than any other player (Raul 56, Messi 51). Relentless.

GOAL - Wolfsburg 1-0 Gent (Andre Schurrle)
German international Andre Schurrle has settled tonight's other tie. Julian Draxler goes flying down the wing and sets up his teammate, who can't miss.
Wolfsburg will be in the quarter finals, too.
74' GOOOAL!!! Julian #Draxler sets up @Andre_Schuerrle, who slots home to all but seal the #Wolves' place in the #UCL last eight! #WOBKAA

With 15 minutes left in the match, Roma decide to introduce Francesco Totti.
The World Cup-winning star gets a huge ovation all around the ground. The Bernabeu stands to applaud as one of the modern game's greats makes his way on to the field.
Can he deliver one last moment of magic on the European stage, assuming he calls it quits at the end of the season?

Roma are falling apart in Madrid, as Ronaldo almost makes it three!
The former World Player of the Year is played through on goal, and he appears certain to score ... but scuffs his shot the wrong side of the post. No-one can quite believe it.
Still, he's had another good night more generally.
13 - Cristiano Ronaldo has scored his 13th Champions League goal of the season; two more than opponents Roma have as a team (11). Phenomenal

GOAL: Real Madrid 2-0 Roma (James)
One goal is quickly followed by another - and this tie is done and dusted.
James, who has been on the fringes of the game this evening, is played in down the left side and he smashes the ball in from a tight angle.
Real are in the next round, now.

GOAL: Real Madrid 1-0 Roma (Ronaldo)
Ronaldo gets the all-important goal that surely settles this tie. Vasquez makes a stylish dribble down the right side and crosses the ball to Ronaldo, who pokes it home from close range.
That makes it 3-0 to the ten-times champions on aggregate - and Ronaldo now has 90 goals in the Champions League. Amazing.

We've played an hour in the Spanish capital, meaning Roma have 30 minutes to do what they haven't been able to in 150 minutes against Real Madrid: score a goal.
They've created enough chances to be level over the two legs, at least, but their finishing has been woeful.
Will a hero step forward for the Italians?
It feels like a matter of time until we get our first goal now.
This game is going from one end to the other in the blink of an eye, with both teams committed to attacking.
It's still Wolfsburg 0-0 Gent, agg 3-2, by the way.
56: SO CLOSE AGAIN! This time @Florenzi comes close to giving us the lead on the night only for Navas to somehow beat it away! #RealRoma
— AS Roma English (@ASRomaEN) 8 March 2016
Well, the away side have made a change. And it's one no-one was expecting, either.
Pjanic is the man to make way - it can only be assumed that has happened because of injury.
46: #ASRoma make a half-time change, @WillVainqueur replacing @Miralem_Pjanic #RealRoma
— AS Roma English (@ASRomaEN) 8 March 2016
There have been lots of flicks and tricks from the likes of Marcelo and Ronaldo so far tonight but they have nothing to show for it.
Perhaps Real are guilty of taking Roma lightly, as they already lead 2-0 from the first leg? We shall wait to see on that front...

Around five minutes to go until half-time in the Spanish capital and we're still without a goal ... but goodness knows how.
Both sides have been attacking with intent, knowing that a goal either way would dramatically alter the complexion of this tie.

A reminder of the score in tonight's other Champions League tie:
Wolfsburg 0-0 Gent (agg 3-2)
Meanwhile, back in Madrid, a former Arsenal hero has come to the rescue of the Romans.
31: @Cristiano takes aim with a powerful left-footed effort, but @13Szczesny13 says no - again #RealRoma
— AS Roma English (@ASRomaEN) 8 March 2016
At the other end, Ronaldo and Bale both go close to opening the scoring twice in the space of two minutes.
Los Blancos know a goal could well put this tie to bed. Rome survive on this occasion, though.
0 - Real Madrid are the only team yet to concede a goal at home in the Champions League this season. Miracle. #RealRoma

Mohamed Salah is definitely the key man for Roma.
The Chelsea reject's pace was a problem for Los Blancos in the first leg and he has already created problems this evening.
Roma will be keen to feed him with as much of the ball as possible. He's their go-to guy in the Spanish capital tonight.

Huge chance for Roma!
Mo Salah goes flying up the right side. He stops on the edge of the box and picks out Edin Dzeko, but the former Manchester City man scuffs his shot wide.
That was a MASSIVE moment in this tie.
14: CHANCE! A quick #ASRoma break sees @22mosalah zip through the @realmadriden defence and tee up @EdDzeko, who fires just wide! #RealRoma
— AS Roma English (@ASRomaEN) 8 March 2016
There's good width in Real's game at the moment, thanks to Ronaldo and Bale, who is getting plenty of support from Marcelo down the left side.
Their presence is really stretching the pitch and giving Roma's backline plenty to think about.
They've survived the opening ten minutes of play, though.
8' Chance! @GarethBale11 puts @MarceloM12 in and his shot goes just wide! | Real Madrid 0-0 Roma#RMUCL #HalaMadrid

Real appeal for a penalty as the ball strikes a Roma defender on the arm.
It was ball-to-hand rather than the other way around, though. Ronaldo led the Real appeals but to no avail.
The Roma fans inside the Bernabeu can breathe a sigh of relief for the time being.

With Real leading 2-0 from the first leg, Roma will feel they need to score the all-important first goal this evening.
If the away side can get it, they will feel they have a real chance of pulling off an upset. If they don't...
0 - In the Champions League KO stages no team has progressed after a 0-2 home defeat in the first leg. Miracle. #RealRoma

Oh! Inside two minutes Ronaldo almost gets the first goal of the game.
Gareth Bale curls the cross in from the left side and Ronaldo is within inches of getting a touch.
It's an end-to-end start to the match in Madrid, with both sides eager to take the initiative.

There's around 15 minutes until kick-off in both of our games. The players are busily going through their last-minute preparations before things get underway.
In case you missed it earlier, Real have named a strong-looking team that features Ronaldo, James and Gareth Bale, who recently returned from injury.
For Roma, meanwhile, club legend Francesco Totti has been named among the subs.

Tonight could well mark the end of Francesco Totti's Champions League career.
The Italian - who is on the bench this evening - has never won the European Cup, but has provided the tournament with some memorable moments down the years.
He'll be hoping to make his mark in the Spanish capital tonight, also.

Pre-match thoughts...
Zinedine Zidane: "It's important to have scored ahead of the Champions League. Bale looked good, he was happy to play after so long. We'll see tomorrow and Monday for the match against Roma but I think he's ready.
"We talked at halftime ... we came out very strong in the second half [against Celta Vigo], more tuned in and then when you score goals it all gets easier."
Luciano Spalletti: "[Francesco] Totti is the history of Roma, the best Italian player in the post-war era. I learned so much from him. His moves have always been taken as an example to show young players.
"He has given so much to football and it's only right that this is recognised. I hope he closes his career in the best way, listening to what his heart tells him.
"Undoubtedly, my role becomes difficult in this situation, but I have absolute respect for the man and his career."

Gareth Bale will make his first start in nearly two months for Real Madrid against Roma in the Champions League after recovering from a calf injury.
The Welsh forward returned to action for the Spanish giants at the weekend as a substitute, scoring in a 7-1 win over Celta Vigo.
"It's great to return in this way and to score," the 26-year-old was quoted as saying by ESPN after the Celta match.
"I have spent four days training with my teammates – now I have to train well and keep improving. It's nice to be back and to score, but the most important thing was taking all three points."

The Roma team is in, too. It is as follows:

So, that means Ronaldo, James and Bale all start for Real, which is likely to make for an interesting game.
The trio are sure to put the Romans under plenty of pressure and an early goal this evening could put this tie to bed.
We're still waiting for the Roma team, which should be with us in the next few minutes.

Breaking team news:
Here's our starting line-up for tonight's Champions League match against Roma! ðâ #RMUCL #HalaMadrid pic.twitter.com/hoLEYGMIvb
— Real Madrid C.F. (@realmadriden) 8 March 2016
Real manager Zinedine Zidane teased his potential starting line-up before the game.
Here's what the World Cup-winning player-turned-coach said: "Gareth Bale is prepared and ready to play. That the most important thing.
"The players who play have to do their job. The players know what they have to do on the field.
"There's one idea, it's the same, it's to always defend when we don't have the ball and try to do damage when we have it. It will be difficult to pick the team tomorrow but its better having all your players available."

Good evening and welcome to our coverage of the Uefa Champions League clash between Real Madrid and Roma. Los Blancos hold a 2-0 advantage from the first leg and will look to book their place in the quarter finals tonight.
Elsewhere in Europe, Wolfsburg hold a 3-2 advantage over Belgian side Gent. They too, will be hoping to seal their place in the next round with another victory this evening.
In the meantime, stay tuned for team news from both games.
