Revenge season 4 may see Emily transform, after her efforts to avenge her father's death turned futile in the season 3 finale when viewers saw David Clarke stab Conrad Grayson to death.

For years Emily Throne has borne the pain of living as an orphan and held the Graysons responsible for her father's death.

Emily watched Cornard goes to jail and Victoria confined to a mental institution, but little does she know, that the one for person she is punishing the Graysons and ruining her own personal life to avenge – David – is actually alive.

But why did David hide himself and watch his only daughter suffer?

And how will Emily take the news that her father is alive? Will she be happy? Or will she will vent her anger on David for destroying her life?

During the 2014 ATX Television Festival Revenge's executive producer Gretchen Berg explained that Emily will start "living the truth".

Aaron Harberts, another producer on the show, added that she has "to deal with a blow back from what she's done. How does that push her relationship forward? She's going to have to own a lot of the thing she's done."

Another character who will be shocked at David's resurrection will be Victoria.

There's a chance that Victoria will reach him first and turn David against his daughter by picturing herself as a victim.

"If Victoria Grayson manages to get to him first, she could convince David to turn on Emily. If Victoria gets to David before Emily does, then she has the upper hand. She has the control and could he be manipulated by her?" Harberts teased Victoria's gameplan to E Online.

But one thing is sure that Emily will avenge Aiden's death in the upcoming season.

"One of the things we're going to keep alive [in season 4] is the memory of Aiden, because he was such a huge part of the show," Berg said at the ATX Television Festival.

"He supported Emily a way that a lot other people weren't able to do because of the experience they shared together."

Revenge season 4 will premiere on 24 September on ABC networks.
