‘Battleship Rihanna’ to Play Villain in New ‘Fast and Furious’ Film
Pop star Rihanna seems keen on fleshing out her fledgling acting career, if reports that the "Talk That Talk" singer has signed a second film are true. Rihanna made her Hollywood debut earlier in the month with "Battleship". The word now is that the singer will play a negative character in the latest sequel to the successful "Fast and Furious" franchise. The singer will star along Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson (aka the Rock), for the sixth film in the series.
"Rihanna impressed with her acting debut in Battleship. Writers think she'll be perfect for the role. Her character has plenty of bite and doesn't take any prisoners - just like her in real life," a source was quoted as saying in the Sun, "It's a step up the ladder for her and could lead to bigger action roles."
Production is due to start next month in the UK and the film has a May 2013 release date. The actions scenes will be shot in Southend, as the crew will not be allowed to shoot in London during the Olympics.
Rihanna played the role of Cora Raikes in the Peter Berg-directed sci-fi/action film "Battleship".
"I wanted to do something badass but I didn't imagine it would be grungy, like straight Navy soldier, no make-up," she told MTV, "I enjoyed it. We did training just before the shoot, speeding the boat, turning, learning how to shoot and handle the weapon, and two hours later we were shooting that scene."
The Barbados-born singer has also expressed her desire to act in comedy films alongside Seth Rogen and states that she is a huge fan of Sascha Baron Cohen's work. Meanwhile, the star will unveil the highly anticipated music video for her new single "Where Have You Been" on Monday.
