The rise of the Budget Bride: Self Portrait reveal bridal capsule collection
Self Portrait has already cemented itself as the go-to brand for haute couture at high street prices with fans like Rachel McAdams, Gigi Hadid and Poppy Delevingne being snapped in the beautiful affordable dresses everywhere from the red carpet to holiday snaps.
Each design is an intricately created lace masterpiece and the ready-to-wear collections that have flown off the shelves since the brand's launch in 2011 have often also found themselves being part of many women's weddings.
There is no doubt then that the new bridal capsule collection that the brand's founder and designer Han Chong has created has been heavily anticipated, especially as they will be at the same affordable prices at previous collections, with all dresses ranging from between £650 to £1,000.
Speaking to Vogue, the British-based designer said "I felt there was a gap in the market for cool, understated gowns that still had the ability to feel feminine and timeless, I wanted to take the stress out of bridal-gown shopping and create a range where there is no need to visit specialist bridal boutiques."
Drawing inspiration from the untraditional bridal style of Sixties icons like Bianca Jagger and Pattie Boyd, Chong came up with a range of beautifully-detailed pieces that would not need to be packed away forever after the big day. Light layering, delicate lace and wearable sleeves and unfussy hems make the design incredibly adaptable but retain the wow factor that a bride wants.
"I think it's about understanding what the modern woman today wants and creating that perfect balance," he told Vogue.
The capsule collection is made up of six dresses that will launch on Net a Porter and in Selfridges in the UK this February.
