He is the flame-haired singer from Suffolk, but its seems that Ed Sheeran is keen to shed his sweetboy image by getting a little hood.

The Lego House hitmaker is planning a collaboration with US rapper Rick Ross.

TMZ recently caught up with Sheeran in New York and the 23-year-old star confirmed he had been hitting the studio with his hip-hop pal.

When asked, "I know you're friends with Rick Ross. Are you gonna do any collaborations?", he simply replied "Yes".

The collaboration will likely earn Sheeran some cool points and give him some much needed street cred.

It is not the first time he has made a foray into the world of hip-hop. In 2011 he debuted his rap skills on his track You Need Me, I Don't Need You.

Sheeran is preparing to release his highly anticipated second album 'X'. His new single Sing is the first cut from the forthcoming LP, which is out on 23 June.
