Overview
The last time Federer won the Grand Slam was in 2012 after defeating Murray in the Wimbledon final 4–6, 7–5, 6–3, 6–4. The 33-year-old has won the tournament seven times and is just two wins away from winning it for the record eighth time.
He needs to overcome the British tennis star in the last four of the tournament, to seal a berth in the final. He made it to the last four by sealing a comfortable victory over Gilles Simon in straight sets 6-3, 7-5, 6-2.
Meanwhile, Murray also had a straight set victory in the quarter-final clash. He defeated Vasek Pospisil 6-4, 7-5, 6-4 to make it to the last four of this year's Wimbledon. The Scot will be hoping the British crowd can help him overcome Federer on Friday.
The winner of the clash between Federer and Murray will take on either Novak Djokovic or Richard Gasquet in the Wimbledon final as the latter two face each other in the first semi-final clash earlier on Friday.
