Federer sealed a berth in the fourth round of the tournament after his victory over Sam Groth on 4 July. The former world number one won the opening two sets, only to lose the third set in a tiebreaker.
The Australian was no match for the 33-year-old who sealed the match in the fourth set. Federer won 6-4, 6-4, 6-7, 6-2. It is for the first time he dropped a set in this edition of Wimbledon.
After making a comeback in the second round clash, Bautista Agut had an easy third round tie against Nikoloz Basilashvili. The 27-year-old Spaniard won it in straight sets 7-6, 6-0, 6-1.
Bautista Agut has faced Federer on two occasions and has failed to defeat him. He will be hoping to seal a victory over the Swiss star when he takes him on in the fourth round clash on Monday.
