Overview

Since Rafael Nadal broke into the scene, Federer has won the French Open only once in 2009. The veteran will be looking to get his hands on the trophy for the second time and he is just three wins away from winning the final.

In the fourth round, the 33-year-old defeated Gael Monfils. After winning the first set, the Frenchman bounced back to level the score in the second set. However, Federer sealed the match by winning the next two sets to win the tie 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 to seal a berth in the last eight of the tournament.

It is for the first time that Federer dropped a set in the second Grand Slam event and he will be looking to avoid it in the quarter final clash.

Meanwhile, Wawrinka also made it to the later stage of this year's Roland Garros by defeating the local boy Gilles Simon in the fourth round. The 30-year-old had a comfortable 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 straight set victory to make it to the quarter final.

He will face his compatriot Federer and the clash between the two will be very exciting as both are on the list of favourites to win the tournament.
