Overview

Roger Federer took one step closer towards defending his title as he beat David Goffin 6-1, 7-6 in the quarter-final on 17 June. The Swiss maestro still isn't at his best, considering he is returning from a long injury layoff. However, he does look like he is enjoying his tennis once again.

The world number 3 is yet to drop a set in this tournament and if he can continue this form, there is no reason why we will not see him in yet another final at the courts in Halle.

His opponent Alexander Zverev has had a brilliant 2016, with this being his fourth semi-final in the ATP Tour this season. What has been impressive is that despite being only 19, Zverev has the power and composure to go on and win titles in the future. Federer will know that the Russian is a dangerous player and is capable of going past any opponent on his day.
