Roma president admits Miralem Pjanic could be transferred to Manchester United
Roma president Jim Pallotta has admitted their sought-after midfielder Miralem Pjanic could join Manchester United in a £30m ($43.5m) deal. The highly-rated rated Bosnian has been linked with a big-money move to Old Trafford and Pallotta says he could join United if they meet his buyout clause.
New United boss Jose Mourinho is said to be keen to acquire a new central midfielder as he reshapes the Red Devils' squad. And Pjanic has reportedly been identified as the man to lead the club's midfield next season.
Pallotta denied that the likes of Radja Nainggola and Antonio Rudiger will leave the Italian capital. But he confessed that the 26-year-old star could be on his way to United.
"Nainggolan has a contract and he is staying with us," he explained, according to Football Italia. "Pjanic also has a contract and we want him to remain, but if they pay the clause..."
United will be given permission to speak with the player if they activate his release clause and given their financial resources, could easily offer Pjanic a substantial increase on his current salary. In addition to Pjanic, United have also been linked with the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Villarreal defender Eric Bailly in recent days.
