Royal Baby: Prince Charles and family visit princess as speculation grows over her name

Kate and William offered thanks for all the wellwishers around the world as the latest addition to the Royal Family was visited by close members of the family.

"The Duke and Duchess are hugely grateful for the messages of congratulations they have received from people all over the world," a statement said.

"It means a great deal to them that so many people have celebrated the arrival of their new daughter."

First to arrive at Kensington Palace around 11.30am on Sunday (3 May) were the Duchess of Cambridge's mother Carole and her sister Pippa Middleton.

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall paid a visit at around 1pm to see their granddaughter. Then, at around 1.45pm, Michael Middleton – Kate's father and the baby princess's grandfather – arrived.

It is thought the Queen could meet her fifth great-grandchild in Norfolk, after she was seen attending a church service in Sandringham on Sunday morning.

The Duke's father the Prince of Wales – who said he wanted his second grandchild to be a girl – and the Duchess of Cornwall are "absolutely delighted" by the news, Clarence House said.

William's uncle Earl Spencer also reacted with joy to the announcement, saying: "It's wonderful news – we are all thrilled for all four of them."

Meanwhile, Prince Harry has yet to visit his niece as he is Australia on a placement with the Australian Defence Force. He was spotted in a fast-food restaurant, ordering a meal called the Queen Victoria burger, named after his great-great-great grandmother.
