Royal Rebuff: Kate Middleton, Prince William rebel against age-old rule
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are breaking an important royal tradition.
Kate Middleton and Prince William have a reputation for being conscientious and dutiful. However, the parents of three may not be abiding by all the rules. As per a latest report, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been breaking an important royal decree.
Keeping in mind the safety of the royals, the family put in place a rule that prevents heirs to the throne travelling together, according to Express. The rule reportedly was imposed in the early days when air and road travel was not deemed safe with high chances of accidents.
Meanwhile, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton have broken the rule time and again. On numerous occasions, the family-of-five has travelled in the same vehicle. The source reveals that the couple may not be abiding by the protocol so that they can stay close to their children.
Prince William, 37, is the eldest son of Prince Charles, the heir to the British throne. He is second in line to the throne. Meanwhile, his children, George, Charlotte, and Louis are third, fourth, and fifth in line, respectively. As for the duchess, she will become the future queen of England when William is crowned.
The family has not been following the rule. As per the rule, it is suggested that George must travel separately from his father. The first time they broke the rule was when the family took a tour to New Zealand and Australia, in 2014.
Simultaneously, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle have also attracted some attention for breaking royal traditions. According to E!Online, Harry might be repeating Markle's actions. Contrary to royal customs, the 34-year-old royal was spotted shutting the door of his car on his own when he arrived for the fifth anniversary of the Invictus Games.
The report suggests that the rule is that a royal member will let a royal household open and close the door for them. The family has been following it since the time of the invention of cars.
Clearly, the heirs to the British throne are under the strict scrutiny of royal watchers always. However, their great amount of involvement in social activities is what makes them truly royal to the public.
