Russia plane crash: Video shows moment FlyDubai jet crashes killing all 62 on board
A video has been released purporting to show the moment a FlyDubai passenger jet crashed in the southern Russian city of Rostov-on-Don, killing all 62 people on board. The CCTV footage, broadcast by local news network Russia-24, shows a huge explosion and white flash behind a forest as the Boeing 737-800 aircraft crashed after missing the runway at Rostov-on-Don airport at around 3.50am local time (12.50am GMT) on 19 March.
All 55 passengers, including 33 women and four children, along with seven crew members have been confirmed dead by the airline. The cause of the crash is not yet known, but Russian officials told the Tass news agency that bad weather conditions and crew error could have contributed to the accident.
The plane was flying from Dubai and was due to land at Rostov-on-Don airport at 10.40pm GMT on 18 March. The aircraft had to abandon an initial attempt to land and came down while making a repeat attempt, according to a ministry statement.
