Samsung Galaxy S3 Release Date Nears: Top Factors That Could Make It a Best-Seller [PHOTOS]
3 May, the day when Samsung is expected to unveil its next flagship smartphone, Galaxy S3, is nearing and speculation about the features of the smartphone has hit fever pitch.
As D-day draws closer, one key question is - what features will the Galaxy S3 boast of? It is quite tough to answer that question till the Galaxy S3 is unveiled, but for the impatient many, here is a rundown of the factors could make the Galaxy S3 a best-seller.
Faster Processor
It is unlikely that Samsung will power Galaxy S3 with a dual-core processor since it already exists in Galaxy S2. That would be so uncool. Hence, this time the Korean giant has officially confirmed that its Galaxy S3 would be powered by a 1.4GHz Exynos 4 quad-core processor. It is the first quad-core application processor built on High-K Metal Gate low-power process technology. The company claims that the powerful processor allows the system architects to include maximised power efficiencies in the devices which ensure twice the processing power at 20 per cent lower power over 45nm process-based Exynos 4 dual.
"The quad-core processor offers phenomenal multitasking abilities surpassing any single or quad-core application processor. Since all the cores must share a single battery, the power management and efficiency in the limited battery capacity are indispensable for mobile computing devices," said Taehoon Kim, Vice-President of System LSI marketing, Device Solutions, Samsung Electronics. The processor boasts multi-core processing feature which delivers enhanced performance, while allowing users to accomplish multiple tasks in a short span of time.
It is reported that Samsung has adopted hot-plug functionality that will offer support for on-off switching for each core. It will support per-core dynamic voltage and frequency scaling which provides a dramatic reduction in power usage during the different levels of voltage and frequency. The new processor will allow in playing Full HD on one's device with multi-format codec (MFC). Also, when a picture is taken, the Exynos 4 quad offers the best image quality through an internal ISP solution with lower power consumption, claims Samsung. Samsung will want to steal a march in the smartphone race by including the faster processor.
Better Camera
The Galaxy S3 could possibly come with a 12 megapixel rear-facing camera. Its predecessors-Galaxy S and Galaxy S2 have already sported a five megapixel and eight megapixel rear-facing camera respectively. This time, it is the turn of the Galaxy S3 to offer a whopping 12 megapixel camera featuring auto-focus and LED flash which could entice tech enthusiasts. Moreover, the latest leaked photo suggests that the Galaxy S3 will pack a 12 megapixel camera, according to Gizmodo Brazil.
Wireless Charging
After the splendid success of Galaxy S2, Samsung fans are now expecting its successor with the finest and advanced technology. Speculation is rife that the Galaxy S3 could come with wireless charging technology which could eliminate the usage of wires and will have a built-in inductive charger. The device could charge where the inductive-charging will make use of electromagnetic field to send a beam from the charging station to the user's smartphone. Users can fully deploy the wireless charging even when the device will be placed 1-2 metres away from the charger station.
Android ICS
The Galaxy S3 is expected to roll out with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. Moreover, a recent leaked photo suggests the Galaxy S3 running on Android 4.0.3 ICS according YouMobile.
Verizon Carrier
According to IBTimes UK, the Galaxy S3 will be available over the summer. Recently BGR has received information about the smartphone line-up which will be available on Verizon which includes the Samsung smartphone. The Verizon wireless offers the largest high-speed network to users. The Galaxy S3 could hit Verizon stores, thereby enabling fast speeds in order to share photos and videos in real-time. It also allows fast download and streaming of movies without the need to buffer.
