Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini gets Android 5.1.1 OS update in US ahead of Android M launch
In a new development before the launch of Google's latest Android 6.0 (Marshmallow), Samsung's Galaxy S5 Mini handsets in the US are now being seeded the final Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) OS update build. The newest Android Lollipop build is currently applicable to handsets bearing model number SM-G800R4.
According to a SamMobile report, users of Galaxy S5 Mini should observe the latest rollout via automatic OTA and the update bears version number G800R4VXU1BOI1.With Android 5.1.1 currently said to be live throughout the US, it should only be a matter of time before the update is rolled out to Galaxy S5 Mini devices in other geographical regions of the world.
Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini owners, upon installation of Android 5.1.1, should notice enhancements such as newer animation effects, revamped/smooth user interface, improved battery life of the tablet, task switcher animation effects working faster and a host of conventional performance (and stability) improvements along with bug fixes.
With a host of older Samsung smartphones set to receive Android M soon after release of the newer OS, the Galaxy S5 Mini could join the list sometime in the future. Therefore, Galaxy S5 Mini users can check their handsets on a regular basis and let us know whether Android M has seeded.
