Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: Emergency update released by company for the Edge screen
Less than a week since consumers started receiving the Galaxy S7 phones, Samsung has started rolling out an urgent update for the S7 Edge devices. The update itself is marked as urgent and the change log mentions "Edge screen" on the description indicating that some problem may persist in the Edge screen of the phone.
The update is around 3.32MB in size but does not give a detailed description of what changes it plans to bring to the Edge Screen. It is likely that Samsung is adding more app support to the Edge screen since lack of app support has been called out in many reviews of the new flagship.
Some users on consumer forums have also claimed that the Edge display can be a bit too sensitive and tends to get activated by accident when users are just holding their devices, which ultimately can lead to launching of apps and subsequent battery drain. It also may be due to minor bug fixes that may exist with Samsung recently announcing special features for the Edge screen.
If you have a Galaxy S7 Edge, then head over to the Settings panel and hit the Software Update button to check if your handset is updated. Users may also see an update notification pop up when an over-the-air (OTA) update goes live in the region.
